Forklift mast how does it work

Free lift: refers to how high a load can be lifted before the mast starts to extend. The ability to freelift is important if your lift truck will be lifting and maneuvering in areas where overhead clearance is restricted, such as double-stacking in a trailer.

Lowered Height or Collapsed Height: This is the distance from from the floor to the top of the mast when the mast is lowered. If your forklift needs to travel beneath a garage or container door, the lowered height may be important. Extended Height: This measures the height from the top of the mast or load backrest with the mast fully extended. Single Stage - A single stage mast has only one channel, and therefore a limited lifting height.

Single stage masts have zero freelift and are best for outdoor applications or environments where overhead clearance is not an issue. The outer stage does not move and gives the option for freelift.

The inner mast section raises up to elevate the carriage and forks. A two stage mast offers great visibility and is ideal for moving loads in trailers. The outer rails allow for free lift, and the two inner sections can lift loads higher than a two stage. This mast type is a good choice for general warehouse applications. Additionally known as an 'upright', the mast will be the assembly in the front the part that does the job for lifting, lowering, and tilting the load to a safe position.

Masts are all 'three-stage' meaning. The stations are similar in appearance. Connected to the mast is your carriage. Attached to the carriage would be the forks. There's a pully at the center of this mast that actuates the carriage.

It increases the loading by actuating which piston raising the forks along with your load by controlling the lever in the cab. From a simple lifting to station commuting, every mast type has features that expand the application selection of the lift truck or enhance performance further than one another. Free lift is to extend a load over a load for double stacking which the carriage will rise before the inner channel starts stretching. This feature is for double stacking pallets in a trailer or even staging product in a warehouse.

Still, another feature that's a choice but is currently considered necessary to the majority of users will be the side shift. This feature allows movement of these forks put loads and to precisely pick into pallets. The hydraulic pistons are attached to the 2 main vertical structures called the "masts. The height of the load will vary on the mast stage the forklift is equipped with.

Duplex can be used when the free lift is demanded but lift elevation is a minimal demand. Have additional questions about your forklift mast? Contact ProLift to speak to an equipment specialist! This discovery […].
