Do explain. No worries, its not an Error code related to your iPhone. Make sure all the firewall settings are disabled. Also make sure that iTunes is able to connect to the Apple servers as well. Check your firewall settings.

Use Sn0wbreeze 2. File size is fine but make sure checksum is same. Just create its backup first, remove everything from the HOSTS file, reboot your system and proceed to the restore. I thought I had to have the ipod already jailbroken to downgrade, that is the only reason I did it. Also note that you can directly downgrade from iOS 4.
